David is a LEED Accredited urban designer with over 15 years of experience in both the public and private sector. His training as an architect and both a city and regional planner has exposed David to all facets of the design and development process. David’s work experience in the public sector includes updating the City of Portland’s Comprehensive Plan, managing transportation and land use projects, and helping shepherd projects through the City of Portland land use review process. Understanding how projects get developed has served David well in the private sector as realized by his ability to design, develop and get approved both land use review and design review applications. David is also an experienced project manager, and has contributed to the development of both urban and regional plans, helped write smart-growth codes, and developed design guidelines. Most recently, David developed the City of Bend’s Interim Design Guidelines.David is committed to forging a process with all stakeholders that results in the creation of sustainable, diverse and connected (physical and social) places. David received a Master Degree in Architecture from the University of Oregon, Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from U.C. Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Art Degree from U.C. Santa Barbara.
